Founded in London’s West End in 1970 by Fred Keene the company began as reprographic engravers, supplying printing plates to advertising agencies and Fleet Street’s newspaper industry.

Fred surrounded himself with a small group of skilled craftsmen and established a reputation for quality, service and integrity that the company retains today. The trade has long moved on from etched plates and metal type and Keenes have always been at the forefront of innovation in the industry. We now supply a comprehensive range of pre-media solutions, yet have managed to retain the attributes that brought us early success and which we feel are still relevant today.

Still with a Keene as Chief Executive, Fred’s nephew Jeff, continues to uphold the family name and values, operating over two sites in central London and Hampshire, together employing over 70 people. Recently, the company has become part of the Wellcom Group, integrating Keenes into an established and proven global pre-media network.
